【12/11 USD/JPY Scalp Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Let's do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, the overview of Tokyo time today.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 155.95. This morning it started around 155.90, but in the early Tokyo session the continued dollar selling pressure after last night’s US FOMC persisted, and after 11:30 a.m. Japan time it fell to around 155.50. That’s the Asia low for today.
However, in the afternoon, a rebound occurred and it is likely to echo close to the morning level as it transitions to the overseas session.
With the FOMC passage, market attention is turning to next week’s BOJ meeting.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around the London market open at around 17:00
● Movements after the release of US Initial Jobless Claims and US Trade Balance at 22:30
● Movements around the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
—–
● Pay attention to headlines related to US and Japan policy rates
Tonight’s “1-minute scalping” will likely target movements near market opens plus the post-22:30 releases of US Initial Jobless Claims and US Trade Balance. For users of the “1-Minute Scalping Club,” handling as per theory should be fine.
Also, the “15-minute scalping” for short-term only trades is heavily pressured by US FOMC outcomes and expectations of a BOJ rate hike, so trying it is an option. The trigger would be around the 156 yen level where you can sell.
Now the overseas session will start shortly!
Scalping tends to be perceived as having small profit margins and constant 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By targeting times with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The times I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC-4 during US daylight time / UTC-5 during US standard time)
・New York market open time (UTC-4 during US daylight time / UTC-5 during US standard time)
Even immediately after US data/events release, volatility increases and opportunities are plentiful. However, in the minutes right after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to act only after spreads return to normal.
Always check the US data/event schedules in advance. Knowing the times when opportunities will come allows you to accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, please absolutely avoid positioning right before US data/events releases. If the market goes against you, you’ll be wiped out in an instant. Careless mistakes are no good, absolutely.
US data/event schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities or FX broker.
Of course there are many other points besides the three above, but I’ve described the minimum points to keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
