【12/4 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Alright, let's do some USD/JPY scalping tonight as well!
First, here is the Tokyo time overview for today.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 155.20. This morning it started around 155.15, and during Tokyo hours there were moments of a little rebound up to around 155.55 after yesterday's decline, but overall it remained range-bound with little movement.
Ahead of next week's FOMC, movement is likely to become increasingly difficult. It seems like it will hand over to overseas time around the almost open-to-open levels in the morning.
From here, the market may be slightly biased to the downside as it factors in a BOJ rate hike.
Now, here are the USD/JPY scalping points for tonight.
● Movements around the London market open at around 17:00
● Movements after the U.S. initial jobless claims release at 22:30
● Movements around the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
—–
● Pay attention to headlines related to U.S. and Japan policy rates
Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will focus on movements around each market open plus the movement after the 22:30 U.S. initial unemployment claims data release. For users of the “1-minute scalp scalping club,” following the theory should be fine.
Additionally, for the “15-minute chart scalping” which focuses on short positions, the move to price-in BOJ rate hikes is spreading, so it’s worth trying. The entry point would be to wait for a bit of a pullback and be able to sell around the mid-155 range.
With that, overseas time will start shortly!
Scalping tends to be thought of as having small profit margins, leading one to assume there are 24-hour opportunities, but that is not the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The times I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open times (UTC: 16:00 in US daylight time / 17:00 in US standard time)
・New York market open times (UTC: 22:00 in US daylight time / 23:00 in US standard time)
Even immediately after U.S. indicators or events, volatility increases and opportunities are plentiful. However, in the minutes immediately after the announcement, spreads can widen, so it is essential to enter only after returning to normal spreads.
Always check the U.S. indicators and event schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities are likely to come helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning right before U.S. indicators or events. If you go against the trend, you’ll suffer. You could be taken to the stop-loss level in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely.
U.S. indicators and events schedules can be checked on the websites of each broker and FX provider.
Of course, there are many other points besides the three above, but I’ve discussed the essential points you should at least be aware of when scalping USD/JPY.
