【11/25 Dollar/Yen Scalping Points】
Good work, everyone! Now, let’s go with USD/JPY scalping tonight as well!
First, from today’s Tokyo time overview.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 156.80. The pair started this morning around 156.85, but during Tokyo hours it showed a slight pullback.
There was a moment after 10:30 JST when it dropped to around 156.55, but it rebounded a bit from that level, likely handing over to the overseas session near approximately the same level as the morning.
This week, due to the US Thanksgiving holiday, the market effectively closes from the 27th, making active moves difficult, so at least until the US data, 157 handle seems to be a heavy level.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around the London market open
● Movements after the release of the US Producer Price Index and US Retail Sales
● Movements around the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
● Movements after the release of the US Consumer Confidence Index and US Existing Home Sales Pending
—–
● Be mindful of headlines related to BOJ intervention
● Be mindful of headlines related to US/Japan policy rates
Tonight’s “1-minute scalping” aims to capture moves around market opens, plus after the 22:30 US PPI and US Retail Sales, and after the 24:00 US Consumer Confidence Index and US Existing Home Sales Pending releases. For users of the “1-Minute Scalping Club,” following the standard approach should be fine.
Also, the “15-minute scalping” for shorts is showing more pullbacks before the US Thanksgiving, so aiming for around the 157 level until the US indicators are a plausible tactic. The setup point would be when you can sell around the 157 level.
With that, overseas session is about to start!
Scalping often seems like there are 24-hour opportunities due to the small target profit per trade, but that’s not the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The timeframes I’m targeting are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC: 16:00 in US summer time / 17:00 in US winter time)
・New York market open time (UTC: 22:00 in US summer time / 23:00 in US winter time)
Volatility rises and opportunities increase right after US data/events announcements. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to trade only after the spread returns to normal.
Always check the US data/event schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities will arise helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning right before US data/events releases. If you go against the trend, you’ll be hit hard. Careless mistakes are not acceptable.
US data/event schedules can be checked on the websites of brokers and FX providers.
Of course, beyond the three points above there are many other considerations, but I’ve shared the essential points to keep in mind when scalping the USD/JPY.
