【11/18 Dollar-Yen Scalp Trading Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Now, let's do some Dollar-Yen scalp trading again tonight!
First, the overview of Tokyo time today.
Currently, the Dollar-Yen is around 154.90. This morning it started around 155.20, but during Tokyo time, there was a mix of Dollar-buying and Yen-buying driven by risk-off sentiment, with Yen buying slightly favored.
The remark by Finance Minister Katayama, saying “the currency movements are one-sided and rapid, I am concerned. We are constantly watching the market,” may have had a slight impact, perhaps.
And just now, the meeting between Prime Minister Koushi and Bank of Japan Governor Ueda has begun, but will the headlines of the meeting cause some movement? Some caution is needed. If there is no mention of Yen weakness, there is a possibility of Yen weakness accelerating, right?
From the morning level, there is about a 30-pip decline expected as the baton is handed to overseas markets.
Now, the points for Tonight's Dollar-Yen scalping.
● Movements near the London market open
● Movements near the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
—–
● Be cautious of headlines related to U.S. policy rates
Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” has no U.S. indicators or events scheduled and no particular market catalysts, so the moves near each market open will likely be the targets. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling as per theory should be fine.
Also, the 15-minute scalp strategy, which focuses on short trades, should pay attention to the Koushi Prime Minister and Bank of Japan Governor Ueda’s meeting. If Yen weakness is mentioned, it might be worth aiming for. The entry point would be around the 155 level where it can be sold.
With that, overseas time is about to begin!
Scalping tends to be perceived as having small profit margins, leading to the impression that there are 24-hour opportunities, but that isn’t the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can drastically reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time periods I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (US daylight time 16:00– / US standard time 17:00–)
・New York market open time (US daylight time 22:00– / US standard time 23:00–)
Volatility increases and opportunities arise immediately after U.S. indicators/events are released. However, in the first few minutes after a release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to trade only after they return to normal spreads.
Always check the U.S. indicators/events schedule beforehand. Knowing when opportunities come allows you to build profits efficiently.
Also, positioning just before U.S. indicators/events should be avoided at all costs. If the market goes against you, you can be driven to your stop-loss in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely.
U.S. indicators/events schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities/FX broker.
Of course, there are other points besides the three above, but I’ve talked about the minimum points you should grasp when scalping the Dollar-Yen.
