“If you stay confused, you’ll miss out” Column now published on Toyo Keizai ONLINE
Good morning, this is Matsushita.
Every Saturday, we deliver a column on investment-related themes.
Today's theme is "Confusion."
Investors are always confused.
You probably feel the same way.
So, how can we dispel that confusion?
I believe today's column will provide that answer.

No. 181 "Confusion"
Confusion is when things are chaotic and lose their order. When various things
are intermixed, it becomes impossible to sort them out. (from Digital Daijisen)
The investor race is always in confusion. If you look at short-term price movements,
they move without order, and if your eyes and mind are
captured by price movements, you cannot escape the confusion.
In confusion, you cannot make profits and you continue to lose capital.
Once an investor falls into confusion, they must escape from it.
Rather than being dazzled by short-term fluctuations, step away from the scene
to calm the mind, and examine each element that is mixed in, one by one,
untangling them. What is mixed together and causing confusion
is not infinitely present; at most, there are a limited number of elements. By unraveling each one
you will eventually dispel the confusion.
Then the investor becomes free from confusion and can approach trading with composure
and profitability will follow. That comes afterward.
Investors are always in confusion. That confusion will not dissolve on its own unless you calmly
unravel it. When confusion strikes, do not rush—put distance from the market and
untangle the confusion one by one. If you do, you will be able to profit from a calm mind.
