[11/12 USD/JPY Scalping Points]
Good work today! Alright, let's do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, here is today's Tokyo session overview.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 154.65. This morning it started around 154.10, but during the Tokyo session there was a continued flow of dollar buying and yen selling, pushing up to around 154.80 around 14:00 Japan time.
Despite Kanzaki Finance Minister Katayama’s verbal intervention noting “a one-sided and rapid move,” the reaction has been limited and it remains in the high range. It looks like it will rise by about 55 pips from the morning level as we transition to overseas trading hours.
Somehow the market seems to be aiming for 155 yen before the U.S. government shutdown is resolved.
Now, here are the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around the London market open
● Movements around the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
—–
● Be aware of headlines related to the U.S. government shutdown
Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” has no U.S. indicators or events scheduled, so there is no particular market-moving material. The target will be movements near each market open. For users of the “1-minute Scalping Club,” treat them according to theory and you should be fine. Timing of statements by U.S. officials may require a bit of caution.
Also, for the short-only “15-minute scalping,” the market seems to be in a mode aiming for 155 yen before the U.S. government shutdown is resolved, so today’s not the day to force it. Tonight, I would like to focus on the “1-minute scalping.”
With that, overseas market hours are about to start!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, it is easy to think there are always 24-hour opportunities. That is not the case. By aiming for time periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time frames I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (US daylight time 16:00– / US standard time 17:00–)
・New York market open time (US daylight time 22:00– / US standard time 23:00–)
Volatility spikes after U.S. indicators and events are announced, providing many chances. However, in the minutes immediately after the announcement, spreads can widen, so the rule is to enter only after they revert to normal spreads.
Always check the U.S. indicators and events schedule in advance. Knowing the times when opportunities will arise helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning just before U.S. indicators and events are released. If the market moves against you, you could be taken to the stop-loss in an instant. Carelessness is not allowed, absolutely not.
You can check the U.S. indicators and events schedule on the websites of each brokerage or FX provider.
Of course there are other points besides the three above, but I’ve spoken about the essential points to keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
