--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last week's New York gold futures close for the near-contract was $4,009.80, up $13.3 from the previous week. From the all-time high on October 20 (4,398) to the low on the 28th (3,901), there was an 11.3% decline, followed by a weak rebound. The rally range is from $4,090 to $4,208 in a Fibonacci range. In a very weak market, a 50% retracement would not be exceeded.
However, as in 2011, there are cases where a new all-time high ended up as a false breakout, so be careful.
If it exceeds the 62% retracement (above $4,208), that possibility strengthens.
