【10/31 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Now let's do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, the overview of Tokyo time for today.
Currently USD/JPY is around 154.20. This morning it started around 154.05, but during Tokyo time there were restrained remarks from Finance Minister Katayama suggesting “rapid moves in one-sided direction,” yet the market reaction was limited.
After dropping to around 153.65 around 10:30 JST, buying interest came in. The trend of buying dollars and selling yen is deep-rooted.
From the morning level, about 15 pips higher, it looks set to hand over to overseas trading. Some analysts are predicting USD/JPY to 160 by the end of the year, though that depends on the Bank of Japan raising interest rates.
Now, the points for USD/JPY scalping tonight.
● Movements around the London market open near 16:00
● Movements around the New York market open near 22:00 (Dow opens at 22:30)
—–
● Be cautious of headlines related to Prime Minister Takashi’s new administration
● Be cautious of headlines related to U.S. government shutdown
Tonight’s “1-minute scalping” has no major U.S. data or events scheduled, so the moves around each market open may be the key opportunities. For users of the “1-minute Scalping Club,” follow the theory and there should be no problem. Also, as usual, today’s scheduled release of “U.S. Personal Income” has been postponed.
Also, the “15-minute scalping” which focuses on short positions faces a limited reaction to Katayama’s remarks about yen weakness, and the dollar-buying/yen-selling trend remains deep-rooted, so today it’s best not to force things. Tonight focus on “1-minute scalping.”
Now we’ll soon start in overseas time!
Scalping tends to be thought of as having small target profits and thus 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By aiming for periods with relatively high volatility, you can dramatically reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time periods I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC) 16:00 in US daylight time / 17:00 in US standard time
・New York market open time (UTC) 22:00 in US daylight time / 23:00 in US standard time
Even immediately after U.S. indicators or events are announced, volatility rises and opportunities are plentiful. However, in the first few minutes after the announcement, spreads can widen, so the rule is to always enter after returns to the normal spread.
Always check the U.S. indicators and events schedule in advance. By knowing the times when opportunities will come, you can accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, avoid positioning immediately before U.S. indicators/events. If you go against the trend, it will be disastrous. A careless mistake is unacceptable.
The U.S. indicators/events schedule can be checked on the websites of various securities and FX brokers.
Of course, there are many other points, but I’ve talked about the essential points you should grasp when scalping USD/JPY.
