USD/JPY steady Today, the Nikkei average fell, and there was a retracement in Takashii’s trade, but the USD/JPY pair remained steady. With the Takagi administration taking office and streamlining each minister’s press conferences, the policy of continuing monetary easing and aggressive fiscal policy is reaffirmed as a core of Takai's policy. There is no sharp rise, but a gradual upward trend seems likely. Next week’s Trump visit to Japan, and the FOMC rate cuts are risks for a dollar uptrend, but it is unclear whether President Trump will comment on the forex market; rate cuts at the FOMC are already priced in. Rather, after the BoJ Policy Meeting, Governor Katai’s press conference may become dovish, and at some point you’ll need to hold a dollar short position somewhere. Other markets are quiet.
