【10/23 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Alright, let's do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, here is today's Tokyo time overview.
Currently USD/JPY is around 152.40. This morning USD/JPY started around 151.90, but during Tokyo time the yen sold off on the expectation that the BoJ would keep rates unchanged this month. After 1:00 PM Japan time, it rose to a local high of around 152.60.
Reuters reported that former BoJ board member Maeda said in an interview that “if there isn’t a big shock, there is a high likelihood of an additional rate hike in December or January next year.”
However, with the next week's US FOMC anticipated to cut rates further, profit-taking may be coming soon... what do you think?
From the morning level, about an increase of 50 pips, we will hand over to overseas trading hours.
Now, here are the points for tonight's USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements near the London market open
● Movements near the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movements after the US Existing Home Sales release
—–
● Be aware of headlines related to the Kojiro administration
● Be aware of headlines related to US government shutdown
Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will likely target movements around market opens plus the post-23:00 US Existing Home Sales release. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling according to the theory should be fine. Although the 23:00 Existing Home Sales is not highly anticipated, it may react surprisingly given the lack of other major US economic indicators.
Also, the short-only “15-minute scalping” is in a comprehensive yen-wide downtrend due to October BoJ rate-hike being perceived as unlikely, so today we should not push too hard. Focus on the “1-minute scalping” for now.
So, the overseas session will start soon!
Because scalping aims for small profit margins, it’s often assumed there are 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By targeting times with higher volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time windows I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (US daylight saving time 16:00– / US standard time 17:00–)
・New York market open time (US daylight saving time 22:00– / US standard time 23:00–)
Even immediately after US data/events, volatility tends to rise and opportunities increase. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to enter only after spreads return to normal levels.
Always check the US data/event schedule in advance on your brokerage/FX provider’s website. Knowing the times when opportunities will come allows you to accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before US data/events. If you go against it, you’ll be in trouble in an instant. Careless mistakes are not allowed, absolutely not.
US data/event schedules can be checked on each broker/FX provider’s website.
Of course there are many other points as well, but I’ve explained the minimum points you should keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
