1. Review

Last week the Nikkei average rose 2,319 points from the previous week to close at 48,088. The week's low was on Monday, October 6, at 46,592. The week's high was on Thursday, October 9, at 48,597. The close for the week exceeded the upper resistance line, thus remaining bullish for the second week in a row. Consequently, the bullish streak remains in place. In fact, this closing price exceeded the Weekly Trend Indicator Point (TIP) in 20 of the 21 weeks, indicating that the underlying trend remains in an “uptrend.”

2. Cycles
As explained in my book “Forecast 2025,” there exists a long-term market cycle of 17 years in the Nikkei 225. Its starting point was 6,994 on October 28, 2008. This cycle is divided into two halves every 8.33 years, with the first half ending at the “double bottom” of 14,864 on June 24, 2016 and 14,865 on February 12, 2016. From there, the second half (the 2nd - 8.33-year cycle) began. 2025 is the 17th year of the 17-year cycle.
