[10/10 USD/JPY Scalping Points]
Good job! Let’s go ahead with USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, a summary of today during Tokyo time.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 152.70. This morning it started around 153.00, but during Tokyo time, it priced in the results of the Liberal Democratic Party leadership election, and the Takai (promoted) market paused slightly with little movement. The 153 yen level has become a bit heavy.
From the morning level, it looks like a drop of about 30 pips before shifting to the overseas session. Going forward, potential triggers include “Liberal Democratic–Komeito coalition talks,” any progress on the US budget, and influential comments that may curb yen weakness.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements near 16:00 London market open
● Movements near 22:00 New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
—–
● Watch headlines related to US government shutdown
● Watch headlines related to Takai becoming new LDP president
● Watch headlines related to measures against yen weakness
Tonight’s “1-minute scalping” will likely target moves around each market open, plus the movement after the 23:00 release of the University of Michigan Consumer Confidence Index. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling according to the theory should be fine.
Also, the 15-minute scalping, which is short-side focused, should target slightly retraced levels since 153 yen is a bit heavy. It depends on European and London participants; if the 153 yen level decisively breaks higher, we’ll give up…
Now soon, overseas trading hours will begin!
Because scalping profits are small, it might seem there are 24-hour opportunities, but that is not the case. By aiming for periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly lower the difficulty of trading.
The time zones I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
• London market open time (16:00 US daylight time / 17:00 US standard time)
• New York market open time (22:00 US daylight time / 23:00 US standard time)
After US data/events are announced, volatility often increases and opportunities arise. However, in the minutes immediately after an announcement, spreads can widen, so the rule is to enter only after spreads return to normal.
Please always check the US data/event schedule beforehand. Knowing when opportunities will arise helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before US data/events. If you go against the trend, you’ll be wiped out in an instant. Carelessness is not acceptable, absolutely.
US data/event schedules can be checked on the websites of each brokerage and FX provider.
Of course there are other points beyond the three mentioned above, but I’ve explained the essential points you should cover when scalping USD/JPY.
