[10/9 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points]
Thank you for your hard work! Now let’s proceed with dollar-yen scalping tonight as well.
First, here is today’s Tokyo time overview.
Currently, the USD/JPY is around 152.60. This morning it started around 152.65, but in Tokyo time the dollar-buying and yen-selling that followed the leadership election results seems to have finally paused.
Also, in last night’s FOMC minutes, it was noted that “most members recognize that further monetary easing is appropriate this year,” suggesting a more accommodative stance toward further rate cuts, which has kept the 153-yen area feeling heavy.
That said, at least until the Japanese prime ministerial nomination election, the yen is expected to stay weaker, and USD/JPY may hold firm.
It looks likely to transition to overseas time at roughly the same levels as the morning.
Now, the points for this evening’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around the London market open around 16:00
● Movements around the New York market open around 22:00 (Dow opens at 22:30)
—–
● Be cautious of headlines related to the US government shutdown
● Be cautious of headlines related to the Liberal Democratic Party’s new leader
● Be cautious of headlines related to yen-softening cues
Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” has little to no US data or events scheduled, so the moves around each market open will be the targets. With some US government agency shutdown expected, the release of the “Initial Jobless Claims” is postponed. For users of the “1-Minute Scalping Club,” handling it according to theory should be fine. Also, expect slight caution around the times of speeches by US officials.
Also, the “15-minute scalping” strategy, which focuses on short positions, while dollar buying and yen selling have paused, is still expected to see yen weakness until the prime ministerial nomination election, so today is not a day to push hard. Wait for a favorable flow to develop for this method.
Now, overseas time will begin shortly!
Scalping targets small profit margins, so it often seems like there are 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By aiming for times with sufficient volatility, you can greatly reduce trading difficulty.
The time periods I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open times (US daylight time 16:00~ / US standard time 17:00~)
・New York market open times (US daylight time 22:00~ / US standard time 23:00~)
Even immediately after the release of US indicators and events, volatility rises and opportunities are abundant. However, in the first few minutes after the release, the spread may widen, so it’s essential to enter only after it returns to the normal spread.
Please always check the US indicators and events schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities will arise helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, avoid positioning immediately before US indicators and events. If you go against them, it can be disastrous. You can be wiped out in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely not.
US indicator and event schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities company and FX broker.
Of course, there are many other points as well, but I’ve explained the minimum points you should keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
