[10/2 Dollar-Yen Scalp Points]
Good job everyone! Now, let's scalp USD/JPY again tonight!
First, the today’s Tokyo time overview.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 147.15. The pair started this morning at around 147.05, but during Tokyo time it moved with little volatility in the low-147s.
Although there are concerns that some U.S. government agencies may shut down and the economy could deteriorate, the market has been quiet. It seems the level will be handed over to overseas trading almost at the morning level.
After this, there may be some movement from Vice President of the Bank of Japan, Uchida. Also, the release of the U.S. initial jobless claims scheduled for tonight has been postponed.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around the London market open around 16:00
● Movements around the New York market open around 22:00 (Dow opens at 22:30)
-----
● Be aware of headlines related to the U.S. government shutdown
● Be aware of headlines related to the Liberal Democratic Party leadership race
Tonight’s “1-minute bar scalping” doesn’t have any special market catalysts since the release of the U.S. initial jobless claims has been postponed due to the partial government shutdown, so the moves around each market open will likely be the key targets. For members of the “1-Minute Scalping Club,” following the theory should pose no problems.
Also, the “15-minute bar scalping,” which is a short-selling focus, continues to be likely to see USD selling and JPY buying due to the partial government shutdown, so there may be opportunities. But this is only until a bridging budget is actually approved. If you can wait for a slight pullback to the mid-147s level and then sell, think of entering with small incremental moves.
Now, overseas market hours will start shortly!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, people often think there are opportunities around 24 hours a day, but that is not the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time periods I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (US daylight time 16:00~ / US standard time 17:00~)
・New York market open time (US daylight time 22:00~ / US standard time 23:00~)
Even after the release of U.S. indicators and events, volatility tends to rise and opportunities increase. However, in the minutes immediately after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to enter only after returning to the normal spread.
Please always check the U.S. indicator and event schedule in advance. By knowing the time windows when opportunities will come, you can efficiently accumulate profits.
Also, positioning right before U.S. indicators and events should be avoided at all costs. If you go against the trend, you’ll be in trouble in an instant. Carelessness is not acceptable, absolutely.
U.S. indicator and event schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities firm and FX broker.
Of course there are other points as well, but I’ve talked about the essential points you should keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
