【10/1 Dollar/Yen Scalping Points】
Good work today! Tonight as well, let's do Dollar/Yen scalping!
First, the Tokyo session overview for today.
Currently, the Dollar/Yen is around 147.20. This morning began around 147.80, and during the Tokyo session it strengthened toward around 148.20 near the market open, but as some U.S. government agencies shut down, the dollar weakened and risk-off yen buying advanced.
From the morning level, about a 60-pip drop, the baton will likely be handed to the overseas session.
Due to the partial shutdown of U.S. government agencies, the release of the "employment statistics" is postponed. It seemed like a yearly pro wrestling event, but it really shut down... That proves Mr. Trump after all.
Now, the points for tonight's Dollar/Yen scalping.
● Movements around 16:00 London market open
● Movements after the 21:15 U.S. ADP employment statistics release
● Movements around the 22:00 New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movements after the 23:00 U.S. ISM Manufacturing PMI release
—–
● Be mindful of headlines related to the U.S. government shutdown
● Be mindful of headlines related to the Liberal Democratic Party leadership race
Tonight's "1-minute chart scalping" will target movements around each market open in addition to the 21:15 ADP and 23:00 ISM PMI releases. Since the employment statistics release may be postponed due to the partial government shutdown, U.S. indicators this evening may be especially important. For users of the "1-minute scalping club," handle as per theory and you should be fine.
Also, the short-only "15-minute scalping" is likely to see dollar selling and yen buying due to the partial U.S. government shutdown, offering opportunities. However, avoid over-pursuing and trade with a careful, incremental approach. If you can wait for a slight pullback and can sell around the mid-147s, you can enter the trade.
Now, the overseas session is about to begin!
Because scalping aims for small profit margins, it is commonly believed there are 24-hour opportunities, but that is not the case. By targeting time periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time frames I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (16:00 US daylight time / 17:00 US standard time)
・New York market open time (22:00 US daylight time / 23:00 US standard time)
Volatility remains high immediately after U.S. data/events releases, creating more opportunities. However, in the minutes immediately after the releases, the spread may widen, so always re-enter after it returns to normal spreads as a rule.
Always check the U.S. data/event schedule in advance. Knowing when the opportunities may arise helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, avoid positioning right before U.S. data/events. If you go against it, you’ll be hit hard. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
U.S. data/event schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities/FX broker.
Of course, there are many other points besides these three, but I’ve shared the essential points you should keep in mind when scalping the dollar/yen.
