What is trader Nao, with backgrounds in company management, leaving the company, and investment?
| First, may I ask about Nao’s career to date? |
| GogoNyan |
| Nao |
| Yes, after working at a construction company I became independent and ran businesses such as caregiving and real estate. |
| How is your business going? |
| GogoNyan |
| Nao |
| The first six months were rough, but after that the business performance grew steadily. |
| When did you start investing? |
| GogoNyan |
| Nao |
I started around my early 30s, parallel to running the business. Also, I decided to leave the business and enter the monk’s world, so I handed the business to the next generation. |
I see. The altruistic idea of wanting to share investment successes with others also resonates with Buddhism. Did you trade FX, CFDs and gold continuously? |
| GogoNyan |
| Nao |
Yes, now I’m trading gold exclusively. I started around 2007, during the subprime mortgage crisis. There wasn’t much material back then, and even when I searched online for methods, they weren’t available, so I incurred a loss of 5 million yen in three months after starting trading. I stepped away from trading temporarily to focus on running the business and leaving the monk path. |
【Turning point】 It was about reducing lines, not drawing new lines.
| I was away from trading for a while. When did you restart trading? |
| GogoNyan |
| Nao |
Yes, I restarted trading about ten years ago. There was information than in 2007, but I was self-taught, which was quite challenging.Until then I used to enter many indicators and draw so many lines that candlesticks were almost invisible, but it didn’t work well. There were times when my own chart seemed to move against me, almost as if the chart on my screen was fake. |
| Even after resuming, you faced difficulties. |

| What sparked the improvement in trading results? |

One time a winning trader told me, “Why not simplify more? It’s hard to see it, right?” From then on I limited myself to candlesticks and moving averages (MA), and for three months I stopped trading and simply watched charts from morning till night. Then there was a moment when the way I looked at charts changed, and I could determine the direction. Looking back, I think the points I learned until then finally became a line. |
| So chart patterns became clear in my mind, and that improved trading results. |
| GogoNyan |
| Nao |
| Yes, there were several moments when the chart’s scenery changed; the dots became lines, lines became planes, and planes became three-dimensional. |
SMC...? What was moving the chart? It was 〇〇.
| After that, you taught your own trading to others as well. How was that at the time? |
| GogoNyan |
| Nao |
| I posted my trading results on SNS and offered guidance to those who contacted me, but it didn’t go well. When I traded alone, I realized I couldn’t articulate my trading—my approach was more instinctual rather than verbal. |
| I heard that SMC (Smart Money Concept) was another turning point. |
| GogoNyan |
| Nao |
Yes, I had a method I had established, and when I taught it to others, someone asked, “Is that SMC?” At that time I didn’t even know the term “SMC,” but by aligning terms and theories used in SMC with my own thinking, it became easier to convey to others. |
| What is the main part of SMC? |
| GogoNyan |
| Nao |
Understanding the thoughts and rationale of large investors is important. This applies not only to SMC but to investing in general: be aware of “who is moving the chart?” Some say the chart is moved by “crowd psychology,” but in reality it’s by the real large investors such as banks and funds. Therefore, if you understand their thinking, you can read the charts. |
I see. It’s important to know the hidden parts and the justification behind movements. |

Yes, there are great indicators and signal tools at GogoJungle, but unless you understand the logic behind the signals, you might wrongly conclude things like “this tool is bad because of a losing streak.” Conversely, if you understand the logic, you can identify capital management issues or make firmer decisions on signal selection. Constantly changing tools makes it hard to build trading skill, so focus on one thing first and master it. |
First, it’s important to master one thing. In one of the free gifts, please watch the video “Understanding the SMC Market Structure,” and also check Nao’s semi-discretionary advisor EA called “tundere.” In the next second part, we will delve deeper into SMC and tundere. Thank you very much, Nao, for today. |
