【9/24 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Now let's do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, today’s Tokyo time overview.
Currently USD/JPY is at the 147.90 level. The pair started this morning around 147.60, but during Tokyo time there was a slight yen-selling tendency, and as overseas time approached, it rose to around 147.90.
The discussions among five candidates in the Liberal Democratic Party presidential race, including Ms. Takai’s stance that “the Bank of Japan should decide monetary policy,” contributed to yen selling by signaling a flat stance on rate hikes.
We are moving around the exact midpoint of the range formed this month... we'd like a bit more volatility.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around 16:00 London market open
● Movements around 22:00 New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movements after the release of the “U.S. new housing starts”
—–
● Be mindful of headlines related to the Liberal Democratic Party presidential race
Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will focus on movements around each market open, plus the movement after the 23:00 “U.S. new housing starts” release, which may be the target. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling as per theory should be fine.
Also, the short-only “15-minute scalping” has been trading with slightly bullish dollar and bearish yen in a light range, so today it’s wise not to force trades. It would be prudent to refrain from entries.
And soon the overseas session will begin!
Because scalping aims for small profit per trade, one might think there are opportunities 24 hours a day, but that is not the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time zones I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC; 16:00 in US daylight time / 17:00 in US standard time)
・New York market open time (UTC; 22:00 in US daylight time / 23:00 in US standard time)
Even immediately after US data and events, volatility increases and there are many opportunities. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to trade only after the spread returns to normal levels.
Always check the US data and events schedule in advance. Knowing the times when opportunities come around will help you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before US data and events. If you go against the trend, you’ll be severely hurt. One careless mistake is not acceptable.
US data and events schedules can be checked on the websites of each broker and FX broker.
Of course there are many other points besides the three above, but I’ve shared the essential points to keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
