【Points for 9/19 USD/JPY scalping】
Thank you for your hard work! Now let’s do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, the overview of the Tokyo session today.
Currently USD/JPY is around 147.30. This morning USD/JPY started around 147.90, but in the Tokyo session before 13:00 Japan time, the Bank of Japan announced to keep rates unchanged, and it fell to around 147.20.
However, it wasn’t unanimous; the decision was to keep rates unchanged 7-2, so there is a view that the BOJ is leaning hawkish, which seems to have triggered selling.
From the morning level, about 60 pips lower, it appears we will hand over to the overseas session.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around 16:00 London market open
● Movements around 22:00 New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
—–
● Be cautious of headlines related to the Liberal Democratic Party leadership election
Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” envisions profits building from market openings if there are no particular catalysts. For users of “1-minute scalping club,” if you handle it according to the theory, there should be no problem.
Also, the short-only “15-minute scalping” tends to lean toward selling USD/JPY given the hawkish view of BOJ, so there may be opportunities. If you wait for a slight pullback and can sell around the mid-147s, we will enter.
With that, overseas session is about to start!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, one might think there are 24-hour chances, but that is not the case. By aiming at times with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time windows I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (16:00 during US daylight time / 17:00 during US standard time)
・New York market open time (22:00 during US daylight time / 23:00 during US standard time)
Even immediately after major US indicators/events, volatility rises and opportunities are plentiful. However, in the minutes right after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to act only after they return to normal spreads.
Please always check the US indicators/event schedule in advance. Knowing the time windows when opportunities appear helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before US indicators/events. If you move against them, you’ll be wiped out in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely.
Of course, there are many other points beyond the three above, but I’ve shared the minimum points you should grasp when scalping USD/JPY.
